The South Florida
Chapter of the NCU Alumni Association celebrated its
20th anniversary at their annual Alumni Day, October
5, 2002. Sabbath services were held at the
Bethel Worship Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
More than 300 NCU alumni and friends attended.
Harold Clayton, South Florida Chapter President,
presided over the event. He welcomed members
of the audience from many states in the US, the
Bahamas and Jamaica and outlined the day's
activities.
Dr. Don
King, President of Northeastern Union Conference of
SDA, was the Divine Hour Speaker. In his
sermon entitled "When God is in the Flames",
he emphasized the Christians must stand for
something and that there is something in a righteous
cause that transcends death. He encouraged the
audience to stay strong in their faith because, as was
the case with the 3 Hebrew boys, God is with us in
the flames.
The
Saturday Night Banquet was held at the Miami Airport
Marriott Hotel and was facilitated by Hannah
Walker-Johnson and Bert Giscombe. It was quite
elegant.
The keynote address was given by
Winston Barnes, radio personality in the South
Florida area. Audley Scott, cabaret performer,
provided the evening's musical entertainment.
